Native Plant Establishment in Late Summer
– Phase II

As a follow up to the initial study—Native Plant Establishment in Late Summer—Phase II focuses on root system growth when planting in the warmest time of year.

The study determined that utilizing a time release water gel or TRWG (DriWater PLUS) at planting established root system growth and resulted in a 139% increase in root mass when compared to controls. Study results also indicated considerable upper plant growth at 68% over controls.

These measurements indicate that by planting trees in August additional root growth can take place prior to dormancy. This growth accounts for increased survival rates. Establishment through root maturation reduced the need for long-term irrigation.
